It looks likely I will be in Boston the 13th and 14th of Feb. I could possibly arrange to come in Friday night/Saturday morning for the weekend if I had a place to crash. Any couches available?

In the end, I will not be crashing Magpie's party quasi-uninvited. Anyone I know who is going who wants to try and get the suspenders and shirt back for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

It just seemed a bit much to lose two days to get back <$20 of clothes from someone who doesn't want me there - amusing story thought it might make in the long run.

That's my black dress shirt, too.

Never got it back, either. Of course, she does go by the name Magpie.

In other news, not sure I will be trying out Gordon's new restaurant tonight after all.

(Seems he's not around, anyway, so it isn't like I can pick an argument with him.)

I once had a lovely pair of white suspenders. I got them from Marc Jacobs because I had store credit. I never wore them, because soon after getting them I loaned them to someone for a shoot. She asked to take them and the black dress shirt she borrowed to a party afterwards.

I said yes, and never saw them again.

I saw her a couple of times, she was moving and didn't know what box they were in.
After that, she just stopped answering emails from me, or calls, or tweets, or facebook messages.

A couple of weeks ago, I got included on a mass facebook invite to her farewell party. She is leaving Boston and (similarly to what I did upon leaving Montreal) having a party where she is divesting herself of stuff.

I'd like my suspenders and shirt back, but am not sure I want to travel all the way to Boston just for that. The party itself could be fun, I suppose, as both the reverse scavenger hunt and the pudding wrestling sound amusing. Still, that's my whole weekend just to get back two pieces of clothing from someone who made it quite clear some time ago that I'm not even worth returning email to.

But it's not like I have much else planned this weekend.

Seems I will be sent in for a day trip to Boston again tomorrow. (So much for unpacking from the woods.)

I suspect I will be on the same sort of time scale as last time, so at best a quick snack and chat are on the table.

At least it should give me some time to figure out what to charge for a modeling portfolio.

One day in-and-out business trips are kind of ridiculous.

Overall, the day went well - one slight plane delay in the morning.

Sadly, the late start to the meeting and the post-meeting debrief meant I really had no time to see people. I managed a quick chat and falafel with ascikitty, and got home-made gluten-free chocolatines from herbertinc (which were amazing and now if anyone says you can't make gluten-free pastry that is awesome I will deride them as knowing nothing. NOTHING!!!), but was unable to see entrope. :(

Still, it likes like they may send me on a few more of these.

Current theories put my meeting ending sometime around 1.

Plane is 6ish, so I need to be at Logan before that.

Meetings are just off of Kendall Square.

So it seems I will be in Boston on business the 20th of July. More precisely, Cambridge.

Not sure how long the meetings are for and I am flying back that evening, but anyone want to make tentative plans for a fly-by hello?

Off to the bus for the midnight run to Boston and then off to the con. I will presumably be reachable by either my throw-away cell or american skype number. I have limited fabulous diva hosting clothes, so hopefully people will help with that.

I appear to be unable to find the charger for my Nokia t-mobile throw-away phone which I keep for the sake of visits to the US. If I am lucky, I might be able to find one that works up here. Otherwise, no phone for the visit. :(

In the spirit of being a stroller/busker/jongleur/hobo/gleoman/gangrel etc. - I will ride a midnight bus to South Station and then make my way to StrowlerCon Thanksgiving weekend. (That's Columbus Day to you Sub-49ers.)

It seemed a fun idea and an excuse to see people I won't otherwise see when I signed up some time ago.

Now it seems I'm emcee-ing the shows. Which means I should prepare.

How does one prepare for an overly-talented collection of liminal characters? One doesn't, one accepts them as they are. However, I *should* try to collect some appropriate tales of tricksters, scoundrels, layabouts and others of questionable characters such as the Stag King of Discord.

Also, I probably need costumes/clothes/many fabulous things to wear.

I leave next Thursday and go back Sunday night/Monday morn depending.

If you're Boston-area and NOT going, but want to see me, call or email or use your telepathetic powers and we'll arrange something.

That's right, this Saturday at 12pm, the awesome Cecil Castellucci will be her new picture book, Grandma's Gloves at the Curious George bookstore in Harvard Square. You should all go!!!

For those of you who twitter!

To celebrate the paperback release of GEEKTASTIC, won't you join the supremely fabulous Cecil Castellucci (aka my sister) and some of the other people who contributed (Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Cynthia Leitich Smith, Libba Bray, Wendy Mass and Alvina Ling) for a tweetchat tonight, Monday July 12th at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST? Use the hashtag #geektastic and come and hang out and be geeky!

In other Cecil news:

For the Bostonians (especially the young ones), she will be in town on Saturday, August 14th at Curious George in Harvard Square, doing a book signing for her new picture-book Grandma's Gloves, along with hosting a craft/tea party. The fun starts at noon!

You should also read the essay about The Darth Vader Project and the formative power of Vader on Cecil's storytelling. (Plus, a there's a song for you to download!)

A Bowl of Oranges in the Morning

(I actually took shots of that silk at a number of different white balance settings to see what it looked like, so this is probably a bit warmer in colour than reality.)

Not necessarily in that order.

The interview this morning went well, I thought. It's not a "I will crush people to get this job" level job, but it does seem solid and interesting and with a good group.

If I do end up back in Boston, I will have to return to stand up. I went to Improv Boston last night with K_____ and am willing to bet that unprepared and unrehearsed, I would have blown everyone on stage out of the water with the possible exception of the headliner.

Unrelated, but following on my theme of loving covers of songs - Don't Stand So Close To Me Young Girl.

Some random pretty computer art.

I really wish this phone had something in one of the menus that told me what the phone number associated with it was, then it would be useful to bring to the US while in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville

Update: It seems it is in my contacts, as opposed to my settings. Not where I would put it, but there you go.
lightcastle: Lorelei Castle (Default)
So, who can put me up in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville (or Davis-square accessible) next week for at least one night so I can do an interview?

(Interview not yet scheduled, so dates are somewhat flexible.)

I am given to understand that the rooms are already all gone?

This is... unfortunate, as I had hoped to come down for a weekend visit or some such.
lightcastle: Lorelei Castle (Default)
Cable disconnected, mail forwarding set. Time to start shifting stuff to the curb.

I think the thing I am most upset about is all the wasted food this will result in.
lightcastle: Lorelei Castle (Default)
The place looks much worse than it is, since things just need to be carted out for the most part.

Still.
Need coffee.
