At around 10:30 Friday night, I decided to go to Philadelphia to see s00j in what I believed to be her last concert of 2011.

I bundled some things together and grabbed the red eye bus down south.

At 1:30 pm Saturday, I arrived at PhilCon, where I was greeted by shadesong.

At 2pm, I showed up at s00j's autograph table and pointed out I had nothing for her to sign. I do think the look of slight incredulity at my presence was kind of worth it. We determined that I see her in the fall, because that is when my s00j is in alignment. Now we have a story, which means now there are rules.

Her performance, accompanied by the superb Heather Dale, was tremendous.

I then spent the night party hopping to keep awake, smooched the cute geek girl who speaks 5 languages (as you do), and left the hotel at 6:30 am to head back to Montreal, crawling into my apartment at 8pm.

I violated horsetraveller's rule, but sometimes the point is that one did the journey.

Overall, however, PhilCon seemed pretty stale. I did enjoy shooting Jedi, however, and got to kidnap Doctors and make them pose next to the TARDIS corset, so there was definitely fun to be had.

Sadly, the amount of legal complexity to ship a piece of bone across the border is a bit much, and so I will not be able to send s00j something to paint on during Burning Man. At this point, it's over triple digits, and that's if I don't get fined for breaking the law.

This makes me sad, as I did spend a couple of days finding a butcher who could provide, and since I was able to actually have it be something personal.

She took the bone of the shoulder of mutton--the big fat blade-bone--and she looked at the wonderful marks on it, and she threw more wood on the fire, and she made a Magic. She made the First Singing Magic in the world.

Well, it's true. I tried to take some pics at StrowlerCon, but between terrible lighting and needing to concentrate on being MC, I didn't get much I liked. This is probably the one I like best, mostly due to s00j's Cheshire Cat grin.

In the spirit of being a stroller/busker/jongleur/hobo/gleoman/gangrel etc. - I will ride a midnight bus to South Station and then make my way to StrowlerCon Thanksgiving weekend. (That's Columbus Day to you Sub-49ers.)

It seemed a fun idea and an excuse to see people I won't otherwise see when I signed up some time ago.

Now it seems I'm emcee-ing the shows. Which means I should prepare.

How does one prepare for an overly-talented collection of liminal characters? One doesn't, one accepts them as they are. However, I *should* try to collect some appropriate tales of tricksters, scoundrels, layabouts and others of questionable characters such as the Stag King of Discord.

Also, I probably need costumes/clothes/many fabulous things to wear.

I leave next Thursday and go back Sunday night/Monday morn depending.

If you're Boston-area and NOT going, but want to see me, call or email or use your telepathetic powers and we'll arrange something.

The Bad is that I still can't get the computer to even recognize the modem as existing, and I am running dangerously low on cash before I get any pay coming to me.

The Good is that I have a contract being sent to me as we speak for a position as a medical writer for a multimedia medical education company, with the possibility of moving into a managing editor position fairly quickly if things work out well.

The Bad is that I cannot purchase s00j's new album until I get some funds and therefore am ineligible for a trading card.

The Good is that I'll hopefully be able to replace some of my crumbling electronics in the not-too-distant future and maybe even listen to her music on a decent sound system.

I cannot decide if the cute girl at the cafe with the FAR too revealing low-cut top sitting across from me and leaning forward deeply to read her magazine is good, bad, or just distracting.

Beware the Ninja, oh songstress fine, their souls awash in guile.
Beware the dark and shadowed soul lurking in the aisle.
Your voice is pure and strong, I know
But will it break and stop your show?
Beware the Ninja, oh songstress fine, than live to make you smile.

Anyone know the original game origin of the term "mythpunk"? I am quite curious now.
