Peppers and Tomatoes
Oct. 15th, 2009 05:40 pmSo having finally archived all the backlog of old photos, I am slowly working my way through them and remembering I have a flickr account.
I have to admit, trying to figure out how to salvage rather terribly-shot photos is an interesting exercise.
( Why I shouldn't be allowed near editing software. )
Sadly, it seems doing raw files from Nikon involves specialized software and other wackiness, so I will probably just convert all the raw shots I took in Ottawa to pngs and edit them, even though that seems like a waste of what is supposedly so great about shooting raw. (The shots also seem to come out all green and noisy, though, so it takes longer.)

Faces in bars
Oct. 15th, 2009 09:44 pmYeah, suffer through more photos.
Misskitty79 was in town for Thanksgiving and we caught up at Hatter's.
( Cut for sanity )
So this is the best I could do working with raw files. The jpeg previews still look smoother.

New Olympic Medals
Oct. 15th, 2009 10:57 pmI love the new Olympic medals, very Canadian.
In an Olympic first, each medal will be unique, featuring part of an image cropped from two large master artworks by Corrine Hunt, a Canadian designer and artist of Komoyue and Tlingit heritage based in Vancouver, B.C.
For example, each medal will include its own signature elements of the orca and raven artwork, such as the suggestion of the orca's eye, the curve of its dorsal fin or the contours of the raven's wing, said officials.
They are also not flat for the first time.

"I have piles and piles of black friends"
Oct. 15th, 2009 11:26 pmYou know, sometimes I really lose faith in humanity.
A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have.
And just in case you think people don't really say things like this.
"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."
Because, as Buffy says, nothing says "progressive, forward thinker" like letting "The Other" use your bathroom.
