On failed picnics and a new/old city

I am more or less moved into my parents place. Much will remain in boxes as there is no guest room or anything for me here, of course. I also seem to have forgotten my camera battery charger in Boston, which is really annoying.

I mostly spent the first week post move in downtime recovery with maery and pat, which was most pleasant.

Eri, who had bragged she could succeed in a picnic after hearing of the bug-ridden fail of my farewell picnic with aerynne, offered me wine and foie gras. We found a nice patch of grass before her class and then discovered there was no corkscrew and the seal on the foie gras had become insurmountable. (I still suspect due to her putting it in the fridge.)

The result? Bread and water.

(We eventually went to Arahova for a snack and they at least opened the wine for us. It was a sauternes, however, and not really for drinking casually.)

A Canadian phone is winging its way to me and soon I should have contact info. My plan to port my American number seems to have failed, dashed upon the rocks of Verizon's bureaucratic shores. I still hope to find some way all North America can contact me cheaply.

I have a CV to send in for a possible Air France job, an phone interview with a start up being run by an old colleague, a mysterious "plan" to discuss with Hobbes, a promise to arrange a meeting with a PR guy, and the circus people to meet up with.

I'm ready to start hanging out with Montrealers though, now that I've stopped hiding some.

I am still hoping to take advantage of not having to scramble to put food on the table to actually learn how to put up a website and properly create my flickr galleries.

One phone option is Skype. If your phone is Skype capable, you can get a Skype in number local to your American friends (like a Boston area code or whatever). You can have several Skype In numbers to one Skype account. Unfortunately there are no Skype In numbers for Canada. My bro uses this on his iPhone, but I don't know what other phones are Skype capable.

I didn't get to Montréal last weekend, as I hope you figured out. I should be there in the near future though, and will let you know.
