lightcastleYou already saw my short review, so some more detailed thoughts below.
I actually liked the first 10-15 minutes of this. Up until the reveal, basically. I thought maybe they really WERE robots, built because this wacky scientist was getting visions leaking through cracks in time. Anything but ACTUALLY being Daleks would have been cool, as the Doctor flips out and everyone else thinks he's crazy.
Even the storyline they went with might have been more enjoyable if they had taken two episodes, and used the whole "bunker" scenario throughout part 1.
I don't mind the candy-coloured Daleks as there have been different coloured Daleks before. I was going to complain about the "DNA" device resulting in new and instant outer casings, but they have shown Daleks able to regenerate their casings from temporal energy in the past, so maybe it was related to that.
I really hoped the whole "believe you are human" thing to stop the bomb was going to lead to him actually being human after that. Some kind of transformation due to the wormhole within - tapping into another reality. As it was? Annoying. (I also thought Amy was just going to kiss him, instead of evoking the "if you get a hard on it stops Dalek bombs" clause.)
While I like the fact Amy doesn't remember Daleks and it is mysteriously linked to the cracks in time, I didn't like that they decided to tell us this using the sledgehammer of plot. I still expect her to be directly tied to the cracks and that is why he brought her along. I don't like that they've already started with the "kind of fancy someone you shouldn't" thing.
