Good and Bad

lightcastleGood - Dinner and an awesome measuring cup with measures such as the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex brain.
Bad - The cup is cracked when you take it out of the box. :(

I don't know if I already put this one up. A study shockingly finds that perhaps the environment surrounding computer science might be why more women don't like computer science.
Oddly, it gets cast as masculine/feminine when it really seems to be geek/nongeek. (And a very specific type of geek at that.) Now, given that geek culture is often deeply sexist, that this provokes a stronger reaction in women than men doesn't surprise me much.
"We want to attract more people to computer science. The stereotype is not as alienating to men as women, but it still affects them as well. A lot of men may also be choosing to not enter the field because of the stereotype. We need to broaden the image of the field so both women and men feel more welcome.
