I have been reminded that it is the leadup to Yom Kippur, and this is traditionally the ten-day grace period people are granted to change which book they are in for the upcoming year. While the particulars of the ritual are of interest to me only intellectually, I do like the general concept of putting aside time to sincerely apologize to people and to accept these apologies in the best of open spirits.
Mind you, ever since reading this interview with David Graeber and the bit about debt as a moral concept, I've been intrigued by the way we view obligation and have thought about the concept of a moral jubilee year.
