I'll put a spoiler warning in just because I know it is good for for aerynne.
I remain torn on this show. The Dany thing is really bugging me. I get that you can get to her path from another route, but I am really unhappy that this route seems to be "If you just learn to fuck properly, your rapist will love you".
Yes, I am aware that's not what they think they are going for, and the "If he wanted the Dothraki way, why did he marry you" is an attempt to mitigate this. I'm not really buying it. Maybe because while I am very forgiving of adaptation issues, this doesn't strike me as one that makes anything better. How does this tell her story in a more interesting way than the complicated relationship they had in the novels?
Meanwhile, the rest is going so well. Tyrion is still nothing but awesome. Arya makes me giddy with delight. My dad blurted out today, "So he (Jon Snow) isn't Stark's son, is he?" which means they must be doing something right in the subtext department. (He even picked up on the "you are Stark blood" assurance and asked whose honour Ned was protecting.)
I like much about the show, but the Dany thing is pissing me off. I suppose once we get to the pyre it won't matter much, but I happen to think the journey is sometimes important, and this journey isn't working for me.
