I have just been informed that current practice is that colons are only to follow independent clauses. In other words, one can no longer introduce a list by saying something like "Vancomyacin has many side effects, including:" (or even "These effects include:")

Has anyone else heard this? It seems a bizarre move unless we no longer believe in lists which may not be exhaustive.

Movember

So yes, I am registered for Movember. I just set it up last night, so I haven't filled it out properly yet but it turns out there are a fair number of people at work who are doing this so we are making a team. I will link to that eventually as well.

Those of you who know me know very well that I will end up looking like a character in a very bad production of "The Three Musketeers", so be kind.
