That is probably a somewhat misleading title, but it is 1:11 AM (make a wish).

Still, in this mash-up culture in which music and images and thoughts are recycled and recombined into something new, you often end up in places you didn't anticipate.

As exhibit A I ask you,

When you think of the awesome Placebo cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)", I suspect the first thing you think of is *not* wrestling promo video, is it?

I had a couple of posts sketched out that seem to have vanished completely from my laptop. That's really frustrating.

I suppose I might find them again, but I know they were sourced to links that I couldn't bring up off the top of my head.

The Olympics are over, and I wonder when that means the Canadian government starts working again.

This week has some meetings with people concerning PTSD.org, but I also need to line up some other job stuff.

The battery on this struggling Dell Latitude D420 has finally given up the ghost. This has resulted in the machine insisting that it can't recognize the AC power adapter and therefore will not charge the battery and may run slower. It also has chosen to randomly shut off with no warning, presumably because it stops recognizing that it is plugged in.

This being the case, I need a laptop. As most of you know, I am without income (and am nursing the savings I have left.)

My current thought process is to get myself a netbook, as I've been thinking one would suit my needs nicely for some time. Last time I researched was a over a year ago, so I am not sure what the current state is. I have friends who have and swear by their EEEPC, HPMinis, and Aspires, so I suspect it is just a matter of finding something with a decent balance of battery life, some power, and a keyboard that isn't so cramped I am completely unable to tolerate it for any length of time. And, of course, price, what with the unemployment and poverty.

I'll search while I can, but given the highly unstable nature of my online access for the next little while, anyone who can point me to some decent side-by-sides of the current situation would receive much gratitude.

I am likely to eventually order a battery for this thing as well. The warranty is long gone and the keys are a bit worn, but overall it is still a decent machine and once it has a battery, keeping it around as a backup might be wise.

Thanks y'all.
