[Review] Doctor Who - A Christmas Carol

lightcastleA little late, I know, but then I haven't had access to the internet to get me this for quite some time.
Well, that was cute.
There's not a great deal more to say, ultimately, about this. It was fluff, it knew it was fluff, and it aimed for fluffiness.
The Ponds were underused, but that could simply have been to do with the actors being unavailable, it certainly felt that way. (The 'in costume in the honeymoon suite' was a bit gratuitous, but worth a smile.)
As for the main bit... I'm not fond of the new acceptance of overriding history en passant that seems to have been taken up in NuWho. It works fine with the more fairy-tale aspect Moffat is going for, but I can't say I like it. I prefer the default in Who to be that such things are difficult, keeping them in the moment.
Still as a shameless rip off of the Dickens piece, it worked for what it was.
My download had the season 6 previews, which were a bit scattershot. This might be the first year I won't predict the return of an classic series enemy, because most of the good ones have been used up. About the only ones left with any iconic power are the Yeti/Great Intelligence and the Guardians. Perhaps The Master of the Land of Fiction or Omega.
Of all those, the middle two are at least reasonable contenders for Silence Must Fall guy. In terms of 'I would like to see a good story with them in the new style' I would vote for the Yeti. (Or the Spiders of Metebilis 3.)
