lightcastleWell, I guess I better figure out how to get a hotel room and a trip down, what with being on panels and all. (I was SURE I would end up on the "How to Flirt" panel, and yet no.)
Instead I seem to have ended up on panels where I am more than willing to talk but have less than ample cred.

OK, at least I get to wash out my brain with fun. Time to practice by playing lots of Once Upon a Time. :)

And I round off the weekend with more contentious issues. At least I know someone on the panel here.
So yeah, I should have an interesting time being the guy having to CONSTANTLY check my privilege.

Date: 2010-12-02 01:11 pm (UTC)Well, you should have an interesting perspective on the subject, right? Listen, don't bemoan your privilege, use it to work for good. A lot of people will, sadly, only listen to someone who looks like you. You can use this power to signal-boost the voices of women, people of colour, and queer people.
I realized some time ago that a lot of people will listen to me on trans issues, say, when they won't listen to actual trans people. This gives me the opportunity to change their minds, and hopefully change that very situation as well.
