Photoshoot went well, although it is clear that my improvised backdrops are too narrow. I am going to have to buy a second round and reposition the curtain rod (probably buy another) to stretch over the whole back wall.

I need to talk to Miche about casters for the couch so I can roll it more easily if I do this. In general, I think I need to throw a "put things away and on the walls and hammer" party. This is the kind of thing that can get done in an afternoon with help, but will just not get done if I'm alone. Bribing people with alcohol and food afterwards might work.

On the technology front, I want to pick up some sort of laptop-esque thing before work sends me to Florida in October. I really only want it to write and surf the net on, mostly, which is why I keep thinking netbook. There's not much point in me going bigger unless I am going to start bringing it to shoots and editing on it, and that seems like overkill right now. I'm not even sure I need a cutting edge dual-core netbook, since that may be overpowered. Some have recommended iPad and buying a keyboard, but that seems vastly less portable or useful. That said, I came across the Asus Transformer tablet/keyboard dock combination and it is tempting. I am unsure of how compatible Android is as an OS with anything else, though. I suspect it might be difficult to sync documents and things between that and a desktop if I choose to use it.

I hit a garage sale today and got a tent, which is good as I am camping at the end of the month.

I also picked up an old iron stove, which I intend to have as an end table.
Yes, I am aware this is quite mad.

I will not have a working cell phone for the foreseeable future.

I am in quite desperate need of a second pair of hands. I cannot move the furniture or build my bed or desk alone, which means I can't really do anything in the new place.

Sometimes, when packing, you get into a rhythm. Items show up, get stuffed in boxes, sealed away and on you move to the next item. Most are somewhat organized by room, or classification. All is well. But there are stragglers, both items that didn't fit in other boxes and items that would just fit in this box here in front of you, making more efficient use of space.

Why is that charger there? you think, having already packed the wires and power cords. Doesn't matter, it can fit in this corner of an unrelated box.

Proud of yourself, you move on, and your apartment at the end of the day is an infestation of boxes, but at least it means you are ahead of the game.

And that's when you realize that stray charger was for your cell phone, and you have no idea what box it got shoved into as a space-filler.

As most of you know, I am moving in a month. As an ex of mine once said, "Three moves are as good as a fire," and while that might be a touch exaggerated, it is always an opportunity to declutter somewhat. Since packing is inherently boring, so company is always welcome and the bait is a chance to pilfer things of mine you may covet. There is no better time to convince me to give you something than when I am dealing with the inconvenience of packing it, so anyone who wants to make a pitch for something might want to make their move now.

In the 4 minutes it takes to walk back to your friend's apartment after seeing the potential new place, you've both started figuring out how to decorate it.

Fingers crossed that the landlord decides I'm a safe bet.

(Verdun-ites, this would mean having me in stalking distance.)

So it is official, I will be leaving this apartment. I have a month to confirm that, but I should just probably warn them ASAP.

So, once again, I'm looking for a place. I'd like a 4 1/2 if possible, although a 3 1/2 is ok with decent storage and layout. I'd like not to go past $750, but am flexible for something lovely.

Near enough to public transport to make it worth my while, but otherwise flexible about what section of town. Am open to NDG down to Verdun, just because it seems I know more people there and it isn't like I'm hip enough for the Plateau anyways.

So keep your eyes out and if you know something, cool.

I am looking to not have a roommate, but have not ruled it out if it means a great place and someone cool.

Anyone have any thoughts on whether moving to near the Monk metro is a terrible or brilliant idea?

One of the persistent problems with living alone is that so many things require two hands. Also, since the bank won't even give me a secured credit card due to my destroyed credit score, my room to maneuver is somewhat constrained.

Given all that, here are some things I need:
