Two days of Needles

It's been a week of letting people stick needles in me.

Actually going to the doctor for a checkup because I'm not worried about cost is one of the upsides of being back in Canada.

My GP is pretty great, as I think I've mentioned before. I like a GP who asks about mental health when I'm clearly distressed from being broke, unemployed, and living on my parents' couch. I also like that he notices that my mood has changed with those issues being resolved.

My main complain this time was the ongoing tinnitus I had been experiencing for the last few months. It turns out my ears were blocked by wax buildup pinching on a nerve and so he irrigated the ear canal, an experience I recommend to all for the bizarre vertigo it causes. (Ok, maybe not everyone finds the room suddenly spinning as amusing as I do.)

I am all clear for pursuing an exercise program, although the weakened ligaments in my ankles means I need to be somewhat careful and something that is more balance and core-strength based is probably best.

I got a battery of blood tests and was surprised to find out he falls in the "there is no need to test for HSV if you aren't experiencing symptoms" camp, as he thinks the tests are unreliable. (My understanding is this isn't really true anymore. I know people who sometimes might read this are actively researching this of late, any conclusions?) I can always find a private clinic that has the antibody tests if it doesn't get run from the round I got.

One good thing about not having any lovers is that you're not overly stressed about the results of your STI test updates. :)

The second round of needles was to finish of the tattoo. Just minor touch ups, although maery was kind enough to see if some of the pieces that flaked off the original castle due to scarring might get some blue thrown in to give the sea a sense of permeating throughout. Not sure the scar tissue will take the colour, however. The rest was just tightening some lines and adding some contrast so the waves pop. Hopefully it heals up well, although I know the intense itchiness is probably due to jump in tomorrow or the day after.

So lots of stabby, but all quite for the best, as hopefully a more-decorated me with less background noise in my head will be a good thing through the winter.

I'm missing out I guess. I've had my ears irrigated MANY times (as a child, I was some sort of crazy ear wax over-producer. It slowed down in adulthood, but I've had it done a few times as an adult also) and it never made me dizzy. I was able to hear better though!

Yeah, my dad was, too.

Then again, I don't get dizzy very easily either.

I like a doctor like that too, although at the time I had the bastard with me. I forget quite why, now.
