[photos] - Magpie
I've already pruned this set down to under 100, but I need to do another round of stricter work.
Still, for the moment I am just putting some up bit by bit. (How many *is* a decent amount for a photoshoot in the end? Should I prune down to 20 best and never more than that?)

You ask 'how many *is* a decent amount for a photoshoot'... It's a bit like asking 'how long should a rope be?" :-)
What exactly do you want to do with the photoshoot? There are some pretty nice pics here - but at the moment I don't really feel a common thread running through them. There's a definite flirtatious feel about some of them, and I think you could build a very compelling photo story about a playfully flirtatious encounter... but I don't think you have at the moment.
I know you are still experimenting at the moment, but before the final pass you should decide on what colour tone you want, and tweak all of the images to be consistent...

I doubt I have the skill to get them all to the same tone given the wildly changing light conditions over the course of the shoot. Segments can be matched though. (I think for most of the ones in the final set in the chapel door I've decided which of the three basic tones I was playing with is the one I want.)
The problem with the "flirtatious story" side of things is that the entire middle section with them dancing is a wash. They couldn't dance on the hillside and the heels made them precarious. This resulted in both difficulty in me getting any good angles and (more importantly) them looking like they were straining to balance - which they were. ^_^
There still might be the thread of that story here, though. So you would suggest in that light to cull things that don't move the story along? Overly similar shots go as we want to move from beat to beat.
Sadly, Magpie has been incommunicado with me since I moved, so what she wants to do with it has become a bit of an unknown. I know she wanted these as part of her portfolio, but definitely pitched the story idea to start.
That would certainly give me a thread to use for these, of course.
(And I am glad to see more people posting here rather than just LJ, btw.)
