OK, yes people, yesterday's Questionable Content is not entirely off-point for me, I admit it.

Books by the foot

Every so often I find myself wanting to buy books by the foot. Of course, I would need an apartment or office to decorate to justify this.

Stage presence

I figured out what was so irritating about the Microphone Voices performance. The singer lacked the stage presence to pull it off. You can be an incoherent, incomprehensible mess, but you have to be so compelling on stage that people are just sucked in. If not, that kind of over the top affectation is just goofy-looking or grating.

This Is Canada!!

I didn't post about it earlier due to the computer problems, but I adored the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games.

As pointed out here, it hinged on that fine Canadian trait - the ability to make fun of ourselves.

The sweaters were awesome, and despite what the article says, I thought the zorbs were great fun and want one for home.

Also please note that most people I know thought the Gold-medal celebration was perfectly fine. (I thought boston.com had the best collection of Getty pics of the event. They just won a gold medal, why shouldn't they drink and smoke cigars on the rink.

Given the lack of freakout about the public drinking of the men, especially.

Missing clothes

While I am annoyed with confirmation that I was mostly just a means to get close to the cute girl, I think I am more upset about the fact I'm not going to get my suspenders and shirt back.

Travel books

For those of you who like to (and can afford to) travel, there is always some good advice to be found from the Frugal traveler.

Those of you who like to read while traveling, and have made the jump to the Kindle or some other e-book reader might find this discussion on the pricing of e-books interesting. They seem to be basically arguing that e-books have to be more expensive.
